Puppy & Kitten Care
At Providence Animal Hospital, we believe that prevention is the best medicine. We place an emphasis on importance of preventative care, starting with your puppy or kitten’s very first visit. Newly adopted puppies and kittens should visit Providence Animal Hospital for a complete physical examination as soon as possible. The goal is to screen for fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites or any other health problems to ensure that your new family member is healthy and that disease is not transmitted to other animals or humans in your household. Puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to parasite infections that can threaten their health. Proper screening and preventive products can help protect them against intestinal worms, fleas and heartworm disease.
For the first few months, as you bring your puppy or kitten in for the initial wellness exam and series of vaccines, we will tailor your pet’s visits to provide optimum vaccines and timely information about your pet’s development. We ask that you bring in any previous health records from the breeder or previous owner, certificates for your pet. You may also bring a fresh stool sample (fecal) to test for intestinal parasites.
Juvenile pets have immature immune systems which makes it difficult to fight off disease. According to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), vaccinations are the most effective preventive measure you can take for the health of your pet.
Important Animal Vaccines
